Bulk carrier MARYLAND was finally refloated in the morning March 27, after partial offloading with deployment of floating crane, some 3,000 tons were offloaded, according to the Russian Sea and River Fleet Agency. The ship was taken to Kerch Outer Anchorage in the Black sea, and anchored. The vessel to be surveyed before deciding if she may resume voyage, or she’ll have to be repaired, with all cargo offloaded.
An explosion occurred onboard a tanker at Port of Makhachkala in Russia today, killing two people.

According to report by Sputnik, the explosion came from the engine room of the 2013-built 7,000 dwt tanker VF Tanker 16 when the vessel was near the No.4 pier of the port.

Initial reports said five crew were injured in the incident and another three were missing, and later two of the three missing crew were found dead. One of the wounded is in a critical condition.

The vessel is operated by Russian company Volga Shipping, which owns a fleet of 99 vessels, made up of 59 small bulkers and 40 small tankers.

The source clarified that the vessel deviated from fairway of the approach channel at 90 m, which was the cause of the incident. On board the vessel is 4,300 tons of coal.

Currently, the port authorities are addressing the issue of the allocation of tugs and the removal of the vessel from the ground.

Fire erupted on board of Russian trawler BUKHTA NAEZDNIK, berthed at Brevik harbor, Tromso, Norway, at around 1100 LT Sep 25. Fie engulfed area fore of superstructure, with a lot of billowing smoke. Reportedly, ropes, oil and plastic materials are on fire. 29 crew who were on board are all accounted for, 27 were taken to hospital for medical check for possible smoke inhalation. As of 1300 UTC, fire wasn’t yet extinguished. AIS is on, trawlerremains berthed with tug and SAR boat nearby.

Fire erupted in superstructure of general cargo ship VOLGO-BALT 205 at around 0400 Moscow time Sep 27 near Tolyatti city, Volga river, Central Russia. The ship with some 300 ton of steel constructions on board was en route from S-Petersburg to Astrakhan. Fire quickly engulfed all superstructure including living quarters, all 12 crew abandoned the ship. As of 1030 Moscow time fire was still smoldering, superstructure seemingly, burned out and is totally destroyed.

On December 2, 2019, a fire broke out in the port of Astrakhan on an Iranian dry cargo ship, Interfax reports with reference to an informed source.
According to the agency, a fire occurred in one of the rooms on the VAFA-2 dry cargo ship during unloading. There is no victims according to preliminary information of the agency.

The bulk carrier ""Melita"", a Volga-Balt type allowed the bulk to board of the oil tanker ""VF Tanker 14”, the agency’s source said. According to the agency, a motor ship with a load of fertilizers sailed from Turkmenistan to Ukraine. The collision occurred with a tanker that was coming from the same point of departure to Romania with diesel fuel.

According to the source, both vessels were damaged above the waterline. It is known that the tanker received a hole, but it was decided to fix it on the hole and continue sailng. It is noted that on board each vessel were 12 crew members. According to preliminary information, no one was hurt, and no fuel spill was reported.
